Our History
Chris Chatten, owner of Shaughnessy Restaurant, worked tirelessly to see his vision come to fruition at the 1984 grand opening of the then-named Sprinkler’s Restaurant. It was here that the legacy of one of Vancouver's landmark restaurants began it’s journey to become a must-visit dining destination.
What's in the name
Two Vancouver landmarks give Shaughnessy Restaurant its name. The surrounding neighborhood and the golf course that resided on the VanDusen Botanical Garden site in the 1940s and 50s.
Here & now
Chris and his family continue to operate the restaurant and they invite everyone to join them to experience all that Shaughnessy Restaurant has to offer.
Dining With Us
The menu is seasonal, innovative, and features elevated comfort classics. When possible, Shaughnessy strives to use local vendors including produce harvested directly from VanDusen Garden.
The beauty of the room, with its airy intimate ambiance, is enhanced by floor-to-ceiling drape swaths. Skylights, white gravels on the walls, natural wood accents and greenery give the feeling of the lush Botanical Garden indoors.
Get closer to nature on the expansive outdoor covered patio, overlooking the landscape of VanDusen Gardens and even catch a glimpse of the North Shore mountains. If you’re looking for a more intimate al fresco affair book our secret garden patio located at the far end of the restaurant and overlooks a quiet part of the garden. It is perfect for smaller events, intimate wedding ceremonies, and harvest table dinners.
We cater to a variety of events throughout the year – wedding receptions, anniversaries, birthdays, bar/bat Mitzvahs, family reunions, corporate events and meetings, and Christmas parties. Exclusive restaurant bookings are available, and we can accommodate a variety of group sizes up to 250 people.
